Wisdom teeth are called wisdom teeth because they grow between the ages of 17 and 25, when a person reaches maturity. In some people, they erupt up to the age of 40. In individual cases, they do not appear at all. Wisdom teeth are a remnant of our ancestors, whose large jaws were used to chew raw meat. Over the course of evolution, figure eights have ceased to be useful and therefore the jaws have become smaller, often unable to accommodate more than 28 teeth.

When wisdom teeth begin to erupt, sometimes there are problems with maintaining the correct bite, they erupt partially, very often at a certain angle, then unfortunately they press on the neighboring teeth and cause pain.

Should wisdom teeth be removed? Erupted wisdom teeth are normally full-fledged teeth. If they perform their functions well, they should be left. You should decide to surgically remove your blue teeth when:

  • there is not enough space in the arch, figure eights may cause crowding of teeth;
  • are damaged by caries (eight teeth are susceptible to caries because they are less mineralized);
  • frequent inflammation of the gums begins to appear (occurs in the case of unerupted wisdom teeth. Food remains and bacteria accumulate under the gum, causing inflammation, which may be a source of infection for the entire body).
