Fixed braces

As the name suggests, it is a brace permanently attached to the teeth.

It usually consists of brackets, i.e. metal cubes glued to the teeth, and orthodontic wires that shape the position of the teeth.

By applying constant but light pressure using wires and rubber bands, braces help precisely position and move teeth.

Fixed braces can be divided into:

  • Traditional metal braces with elastic bands.
  • Self-ligating braces – allow you to shorten the treatment time by up to 6 months and reduce the number of necessary checks during treatment.
  • Self-ligating braces in the form of Damon’s arch:
It allows you to create a „wider smile”, which is preferred by some patients.
  • Aesthetic braces: The brackets glued to the teeth are transparent and made of ceramic. They are characterized by better aesthetics, but the treatment time may be longer and they are more emergency.
  • Lingual braces (attached on the tongue side).

Overlay braces/clear aligner

Virtually invisible. More comfortable than fixed braces. They require fewer follow-up visits, which is a particular advantage for traveling patients.

Each overlay is individually matched to the appropriate stage of treatment, ensuring comfort and effectiveness of treatment.

Solutions additionally used during orthodontic treatment

  1. Microimplant
It is a small titanium screw inserted into the bone, which allows you to obtain a stable attachment point thanks to which you can move the teeth more precisely. They are especially useful when it is necessary to move teeth in difficult directions or when controlling the position of teeth is extremely important.
In some cases, they speed up the treatment process by allowing teeth to move more effectively.
  2. MSE appliance/palatal expander
It is an alternative to surgical treatment in case of jaw stenosis in adults. Mounted on the palate, it allows you to increase its width by gradually unscrewing the screw. In addition to improving the alignment of teeth, it significantly improves breathing problems – a narrow jaw is often associated with a narrowing of the upper respiratory tract.
  3.  Beneslider camera
The device, independently installed with the help of microimplants, allows for significant movement of teeth along the dental arch.
  4. Corticotomy
That is, combined surgical and orthodontic treatment. Used in cases of thin gingival phenotype, with a high risk of root or gingival damage when using only an orthodontic appliance. And also in the case of defects bordering on operability who do not want to decide on surgical treatment. Significantly speeds up healing time. It involves making local bone incisions around the tooth roots, which facilitates the movement and movement of teeth or enables movements that were not possible before.

The course of orthodontic treatment

2. Establishing a treatment plan

The orthodontist analyzes any irregularities in the patient’s bite, and then creates and presents all possible methods that will effectively reduce malocclusions and improve the aesthetics of the teeth.

3. Active treatment

After the patient approves the selected treatment plan, the orthodontist begins to carry out individual treatments during regular visits. At each visit, the doctor corrects the position of the orthodontic appliance and informs the patient how to conduct daily oral hygiene while wearing the appliance. Treatment time usually lasts 18-24 months, but in the case of serious malocclusions it may even be 36 months.

4. Retention treatment

After completing the treatment, and therefore after removing the braces, you should undergo retention treatment, which will allow the patient to maintain the achieved results.
