Gum disease is an infection that can cause inflammation and changes in soft tissues and the underlying bone.
Inflammation of the gingival tissues is caused by bacterial plaque (a sticky layer that collects on the teeth and gums. The bacteria present in the plaque produce acids and toxins that cause the gums to swell, redden and bleed.

SYMPTOMS OF GUM PROBLEMS:
– bleeding,
– redness,
– swelling,
– toothache or tooth hypersensitivity,
– persistent bad breath,
– tooth mobility may indicate an advanced condition (periodontal disease).
HOW TO PREVENT GUM DISEASE:
– brush your teeth properly at least twice a day for 2 minutes.
– use dental floss.
– don’t stop brushing your teeth even if your gums are bleeding.
– change your toothbrush every 3 months.
– visit the dentist regularly to check your teeth.
