Tooth sensitivity is the feeling of pain when consuming hot or cold drinks or inhaling cold air.
Hypersensitivity occurs when the gums recede and the tooth root is exposed. It contains tiny dentinal tubules that connect with the nerve center of the tooth located inside it. When hot or cold stimuli come into contact with these channels, it causes nerve stimulation and pain.
CAUSES OF HYPERSENSITIVITY:
– brushing your teeth too hard or using a toothbrush with hard bristles.
– consuming sour and sweet drinks and foods, carbonated drinks and fresh fruit juices.
– teeth grinding (bruxism) may cause abrasion of the hard surfaces of the teeth.
WAYS TO PREVENT HYPERSENSITIVITIES:
– Brush your teeth gently at least twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush.
– use dental floss.
– avoid sour and sweet drinks and foods, carbonated drinks and fresh fruit juices.
